Fukui Day Trip
The proper name is Katsuyama Fukui Ski Jam, but most locals just call it ski Jam. A popular Kansai destination for snow lovers, and a pretty resort with nice views and lots of nice snow covered pine trees.
Ski Jam is well suited for beginners and Intermediate levels, bu
t also has some more challenging runs further up the mountain the steepest being 37o. The elevation is 1380 m and the longest run a whopping 5,800 metres from top to bottom.
There are some nice pockets of powder too to be had among the trees which this particular writer remembers with glee! Contrary to what the name might suggest the resort also caters to boarding enthusiasts and has a park with rail, table top, box , wave etc... For families there are child facilities, kids ski school and a place at the base with shops and eateries to relax and warm up.
